Alumni, families, friends, and campus community members are invited to the
Massachusetts Court of Appeals on Wheels with Justices Gabrielle Wolohojian ’78, Eric Neyman ’86, P’22, and Sookyoung Shin ’92
Tuesday, November 7, 2023
9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Kemper Auditorium
Please join us as three Massachusetts Court of Appeals alumni judges, Justice Gabrielle Wolohojian ’78, Justice Eric Neyman ’86, P’22, and Justice Sookyoung Shin ’92, conduct oral arguments on two civil and two criminal cases.
Phillips Academy is pleased to welcome back three alumni judges for traveling oral arguments, Appeals on Wheels. These hearings, which typically take place on law school campuses across the Commonwealth, help citizens learn more about the judiciary's role and witness the courts in action. Traveling oral arguments are similar to oral arguments in the Boston courtroom: a bailiff calls the court into session, the judges enter, and lawyers for the parties present their arguments to the judges and answer the judges' questions.
Following the adjournment of the court proceedings, the judges will be available for questions from the Phillips Academy community about the law and the judiciary in general, but will be unable to answer questions about the case they've just heard.
This event is open to the public and registration will open soon. In advance of the hearings, the Court will provide a summary, which includes a case synopsis, biographies of the judges and the arguing attorneys, and related materials about courts and the law.
Please contact Naomi Sobelson Mashburn ’08 in the Office of Alumni Engagement with any questions.
