Sarah Kay is a New Yorker, a poetry writer and reader. A spoken word poetry teacher and the founder and co-director of Project VOICE. A witty banter enthusiast. A postcard lover. A documentary filmmaker. A foodie. A photographer. A best-selling author of the book B and author of No Matter the Wreckage and The Type. A mediocre driver at best. A musical theater geek. A smoothie expert. The daughter of a Taoist mother and a Brooklynese father. A hapa. Known for her talk at the 2011 TED conference, “If I Should Have A Daughter,” which has been viewed over 10 million times.
Kay has been invited to share her work on stages and in classrooms around the world. She holds a master of arts in teaching from Brown University and an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Grinnell College.
Sarah Kay’s books will be available for purchase during a book signing following her performance.
