Botswana: Field Ecology and Conservation
Botswana: Field Ecology and Conservation offers students the opportunity to conduct real-world ecology research in the mopane and Limpopo river ecosystems of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in southeastern Botswana. Students will work in teams to develop ecology-focused research projects while encountering iconic African wildlife such as elephants, lions, giraffe, impala, leopards, and baboons. Bushwalks and a visit with the local community will create opportunities to discuss conservation efforts in this unique ecosystem, and students will also learn to track carnivores, identify birds, and even search for the reclusive brown hyena. A trip highlight will be a night spent sleeping out under the stars on the Eagle View Star Deck. This program promises to give students a taste of the life of a field biologist while putting them up close and personal with exciting wildlife and dramatic landscapes.
