日本の創道: The Way of Japanese Craft

Join us on a journey across Honshu, visiting cities, shrines, museums, and countryside. We will learn about the day to day life of Japanese people and visit striking monuments and holy sites. By meeting with accomplished craftspeople and experimenting with our own creating, we will find a Japan that has built a vision for itself over centuries of history. Together, we’ll explore our foundational question: how has Japanese culture been shaped by its relationship to practice and craft, and what is my relationship to my own?

Snapshot

In our travels of Japan, we’ll seek to answer: how do past practices empower today’s craftspeople to build the future?
