What You Don’t Know (But Should!)

What’s the quiet, everyday hero for so many students at PA?

Non-tuition financial aid offers a breakthrough in student support—and it’s a veritable necessity for learners to grow and thrive. Plus, it seeds equity across the entire community. For numerous scholars, this vital assistance can mean the difference between a good school year and a great one. But what is this unique form of aid? And what does it do?

  • Unlike at many other peer schools, aid at the Academy extends far beyond tuition, room, and board. Each year, PA commits $2 million to this important priority. Non-tuition financial aid creates a truly inclusive environment for all students once they’re on campus, funding everything from essentials like laptops, health care, and warm clothing to music lessons, athletic equipment, college application costs, Learning in the World travel, and much more.

We give to non-tuition financial aid because we are committed to creating a sense of belonging on campus. That means funding the things that really drive the full Andover experience. We don’t want anyone to be left out.

  • Approximately 500 students annually receive non-tuition financial aid at PA. But no one would know who they are—and that’s intentional. Because these discreet, seamless resources level the playing field. They ensure that all scholars have what they need to study, compete, perform, and explore every opportunity available to them. All without fear of judgment or exclusion.

  • Alumni, families, and friends can easily donate to Student Experience Funds that strengthen non-tuition financial aid. These contributions have been pivotal since Andover launched its need-blind admission commitment in 2007, and they continue to enable the school’s mission to welcome youth from every quarter.
