John Bird
Mr. Bird’s fields of expertise include poetry and poetics, and the literature of the English Renaissance and 17th century, but he is also interested in Modernism and the avant-garde in literature and cinema, and Surrealism, in particular. He currently teaches senior electives on the works of Christopher Marlowe and John Milton, and has previously taught surveys of Elizabethan poetry and drama, and courses on Shakespeare, John Donne, and avant-garde poetry and film.
In his spare time, Mr. Bird collects vintage fantasy, horror, and science fiction paperbacks and small press first editions, and also enjoys playing classic tabletop fantasy role playing games like Dungeons & Dragons with students. Until recently, Mr. Bird and his wife resided with their two cats in a large, boys dorm.
